Bad Credit w/ perfect credit cosigner – - need alternative student loan!?

I’m 27 and going to school for this first time this fall. I’ve rec’d the $7500 from the gov’t that i’m eligible for and that is not nearly enough to cover all the expenses for my education.

I’ve applied for about 3-4 alternative student loans and have been denied by all of them – - even with my cosigner who has great credit.

My credit is terrible right now as I’m behind in some bills due to being laid off from my job. That being said, there has to be a financial institution that is willing to give me money for school with a great cosigner, right?

I don’t know what to do at this point and I do not want to continue applying for places that ‘m going to get denied – - It’s a pain for me, and my mother (cosigner).

Any suggestions on lenders who will accept my situation?
